Overview
The IRS announced additional disaster-style relief for eligible taxpayers affected by ongoing events in Israel. Eligible returns and payments may be postponed to September 30, 2027.
What has changed?
Earlier IRS notices (2023-71, 2024-72 and 2025-53) provided postponements for the same population.
Notice 2026-63 extends the relief so eligible filing and payment deadlines fall on September 30, 2027.
Who is affected?
Taxpayers whose principal residence or principal place of business is in Israel, the West Bank or Gaza and who were affected by the events covered in the IRS notices.
When does it take effect?
Notice 2026-63 covers deadlines from September 30, 2026 through September 30, 2027. Earlier notices (2023-71, 2024-72, 2025-53) remain in effect, so relief overall covers deadlines from October 7, 2023 through September 30, 2027.
